Up Over $2,000 On Our Open Swings, Thoughts On Taking Profit

by

Asia had a good run overnight and Europe started off well but pulled back slightly on more fears that European leaders’ might not be able to get the debt crisis under control. Personally I think this slow start will lead to a bullish session so I’ll play my 5 open swing trades accordingly.

COOL – Zumba Fitness sold over 3 million copies on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Tomorrow the sequel Zumba Fitness 2 hits the market and I expect it to sell better. I expect we’ll see commercials and news regularly during the holiday season which could drive shares of COOL into the $4 range. There’s a chance I’ll add more to my position if I can time the market conditions, the chart and this new round of hype. My immediate goal is $.50 to $1.00 per share and I’ll re-evaluate that daily.

RENN – slow and steady wins the race here. Dropped to $4.52 after earnings just as I said it would before running to $4.98 Friday, only $.27 off my entry. I’ll ride RENN until I’m even or better and would not be shocked if I ended up making decent money on this swing. I didn’t buy more Friday in the pre-market when it was at $4.30 because I didn’t want to increase my size which would then force me to sell if it continued to head down. Given my small position I can afford to wait this one out. Target is $6 short term.

ABAT – Yahoo still shows earnings today so my plan is to be out before the market close unless I find out for sure that earnings have been pushed back. A quick search of the company website doesn’t suggest they’ve been moved but I’ll dig more as the day wears on. At this point I’m just looking for a profit on ABAT. As of right now I’m thinking I’ll wait for an afternoon runup and let you know immediately if that changes.

PLUG – nice breakout Friday giving us about $.19 cents from alert to high before sellers took profits at $2.71 and shares pulled back to $2.61. As I said Friday I was only looking for 5% but didn’t act quick enough at $2.71 to lock it in. Based on the chart breakout I’ll consider holding my small position so long as it holds above the breakout pivot point of $2.46 or so.

QPSA – what a great stock this has been for us. First we lock up 60% on it and now the option alert at $.60 is up 50% heading into today’s earnings. Not bad for my first option play, we’ll see if it sticks as I’ve yet to close the trade. Today as you know myYearbook and QPSA will both report together for the first time. Numbers won’t be combined here but the outlook will determine if I score big here.
